Whether you would like to play cello, saxophone or electric guitar, in an orchestra, jazz band or rock group, we can make it happen.

If you are between three and twenty three , Swindon Young Musicians provide ensembles for a wide range of instruments, and organises an exciting programme of workshops, concerts and music festivals, plus tours at home and abroad - ensuring that every musician has the chance to experience the pleasure of playing and performing with others. Don’t feel left out adults, we have a brand new recorder group on Friday evenings, and a rock school on Thursday evenings for you to join! Phone the office to find out more.

For those without instruments, we offer the opportunity to hire at very reasonable costs. This enables children to try before the expense of purchasing.

Another important aspect of the work that Swindon Music Service undertakes is supporting musical education in local schools. What was the difference in schools between July and September 2007? Well from September we encouraged over 2000 new children a week to take part in classroom ensembles, and now have practitioners in all of Swindon’s primary schools. At the beginning of the academic year 2009/10 we are looking at nearly 120 different projects taking place in the Primary Schools of Swindon. Each of these projects is whole class work reaching approximately 30 children each time. That makes over 3500 children being reached by music. All these projects are leading to more and more children taking up instruments and enjoying the sense of achievement that learning can bring!

The service we offer is not all about high achievers! At Swindon Music Service, we believe that music is for everyone. You don’t need to be especially talented to enjoy a music-making experience; you just need opportunity, good teaching and encouragement - we provide all three in abundance!
